Coronavirus, Chiropractic and Easy Ways to Fight (COVID – 19)

March 14, 2020 by drburt

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in humans and many different species of animals, including camels, cattle, cats, and bats. Rarely, animal coronaviruses can infect people and then spread between people, such as with MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV. The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading from person-to-person with reported cases all over the world.

In our local community San Ramon Unified School District Closed all Schools till April 10th. That period will include Spring break for all of the kids. Hayward State and Diablo Valley College Closed its doors and offer classes via web. People are not encouraged to use public transportation such as BART and AC Transit. It feels like the end of the world is coming – empty streets, empty store shelves and people are hiding inside of their houses.

At this point and time we are reducing our days to two times a week. Those days will be Monday and Fridays. It will help those in need of chiropractic care. If people stop coming we might close the doors completely for couple of weeks. It would be safe to assume that this situation will lead to staycation.

Things that can help to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID – 19)

  1. Routinely clean all frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, such as workstations, countertops, and doorknobs. Use the cleaning agents that are usually used in these areas and follow the directions on the label. No additional disinfection beyond routine cleaning is recommended at this time. Provide disposable wipes so that commonly used surfaces (for example, doorknobs, keyboards, remote controls, desks) can be wiped down by employees before each use.
  2. Wash your hands. You should wash your hands before meals, after using the restroom, and after you’ve been in public where people are actively spreading germs, such as handling doorknobs and public touch screens. Also make sure not to touch your face when you’re out and about because touching a germy object, such as a door handle, then touching your face is a great way to expose yourself to germs.
  3. Eat Healthy Foods. A balanced diet full of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats will keep the good bacteria in your gut happy. This microbiome is one of your body’s first lines of defense when it’s exposed to germs, so keep them healthy and you will keep yourself healthy too. It’s a good idea to cut down on added sugars because they can throw off the balance of good and bad bacteria in your gut. Make sure you stay well hydrated, filtered water and cold pressed drinks will help your system to be in figting mode against the virus. It certainly doesn’t hurt to increase your intake of Vitamin C either as a food source or supplement , Vitamin D(which we have plenty in California)
  4. Get a good night of sleep. My teacher used to say “Sleep is you weapon” t is is very important to recharge your batteries. This will certainly help to keep your immune system strong. When you sleep, your body uses the time to rest and rejuvenate. Sleep is integral to your overall health and wellness, so make sure you’re getting enough of it. If you find that you have trouble sleeping, then check your sleep environment. The room should be cool, dark, and quiet. Also take a look at your nighttime routine, making sure that all electronics are turned off at least one hour before bed and you’re doing what you can to relax in that time to prepare your body for sleep.
  5. See Your Local Chiropractor. Chiropractors focus on keeping the nervous system is tip-top shape. One of the reasons people are stuck in the sympathetic or stress modes of their nervous systems is because of ‘spinal lesions’ we call vertebral subluxations. Physiologists have proposed that vertebral subluxations are associated with exaggerated sympathetic activity and that by correcting these lesions we can restore the body back towards the more normal and healthy resting tone. When this happens, voila, appropriate immune responses result! One study, from the National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois, found that disease-fighting white blood cell counts were higher just 15 minutes after a chiropractic adjustment was applied to the upper back. Another study investigated the immune response in HIV-positive patients under chiropractic care. After six months, the group receiving chiropractic adjustments showed a 48 percent increase in white blood cell (CD4) counts. Conversely, the group that did not receive chiropractic adjustments experienced a 7.96 percent decrease. Making sure the connection between your brain and your immune systems is at its best is one of the first steps to a healthier immune system, no cell will function the way it should if it is not getting the right messages.

The Benefits of Seeing a Chiropractor in Addiction Recovery

January 23, 2019 by drburt

Addiction is a major problem that impacts people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Those facing
addiction will often feel trapped and as if they have no hope of making a positive change, and too many
people pay the ultimate price. If you are battling addiction and would like to give yourself the highest
possible odds of making a full recovery, consider the benefits of seeing a chiropractor.
A lot of people think chiropractors only help with back and joint pain, but that is far from the truth. A
skilled chiropractor can work wonders to help you put your addiction in the past. Going to a trained
chiropractor could be one of the best choices you will ever make. Rather than using it on its own,
combine chiropractic care with other addiction treatments.

How Chiropractic Care Works
Before you explore the benefits, you can expect, it's vital you understand how chiropractic care works in
the first place. Understanding the basics opens the doors and shows you why this treatment option can
help. With that information on hand, you move forward and make the right choice for your situation.
Learning as much as you can about chiropractic treatment empowers you to uncover the correct path so
that you can improve your odds of making a full recovery.
The back is home to many nerves that travel throughout the body, and disruptions to those nerves can
cause issues of which you should be aware. Many of the problems manifest as physical pain, but the
mind connects to the body. Physical problems, as a result, can lead to emotional stress that impacts
your choices. Since addiction is often the symptom of other issues, treating stress and anxiety with
chiropractic care can go a long way to reduce the odds of a relapse.

Reduce Stress
Without realizing it, people sometimes turn to drugs or alcohol to treat stress, which can lead to a
downward spiral from which some people never escape. It might start with a few drinks once or twice a
week, but it ends with an uncontrollable addiction. Even if you did not use drugs or alcohol to treat
stress, going through addiction and rehabilitation can cause enough stress on its own. Stress can cause
you to relapse even after you have made it past the worst of the physical withdrawal symptoms.
Failing to combat stress can lead back to the road you are trying to leave behind. If you are serious
about recovering from your addiction, reducing stress is a smart move. A talented chiropractor can give
you a hand with your stress so that you won't have to worry about it holding you back.

Reduce Anxiety
Due to chemical imbalances in the brain, some people feel intense anxiety and don't know how to
control or contain it. In the worst cases, anxiety can stop you from living life and cause you to miss many
opportunities. Some people drink in social settings to make having conversations with strangers a little
easier, but others depend on drugs or alcohol to control anxiety in other situations.
Before the person knows what happened, they are facing the worst stages of addiction and need to find
a way out before it's too late. Anxiety can make recovering much harder than it has to be, and you don't

have to face that issue alone. A chiropractor can locate areas of tension in your body and relieve them,
and you could notice positive improvements to your anxiety.
Final Thoughts
Most people don't know how much chiropractic care can improve their chance of putting addiction
behind them, but the benefits are hard to overlook. Combating stress and reducing anxiety can make
your life that much easier, and you need every advantage you can get when fighting addiction.

San Leandro Chiriopractor and Yelp 5 Stars Reviews Filtering System

December 31, 2018 by drburt

San Leandro Chiropractor

San Leandro Chiropractor have been receiving numerous phone calls from Yelp’s rep to advertise on their platform. At the time when phone calls started  I had over 50 – 5 stars reviews and about 20 filtered  5 stars reviews. My San Leandro Chiropractor practice is based on providing quality service to those who live or work within 5 to 10 miles radius. I did not have any desire to advertise on a digital platform that was performing well Free of Charge for many years. Of course getting 70 – 5 stars reviews takes years to acquire. Building great digital reputation for San Leandro Chiropractor takes a lot of time and effort. Quality of care creates many happy clients walking outside your door. Back in days the most powerful means of advertising was word of mouth. Now it is just a small fraction of a 21st century small business model. Google local places, Yelp, Instagram, YouTube, Blog post like this one are all parts of a big engine that move San Leandro Chiropractor forward.

Managing and understanding what drives Yelp reviews has become an important tactic for many local marketing professionals. It is important for every brand’s local marketing strategy. The majority of businesses stand to gain some level of benefit by engaging with Yelpers, even if the review is… less than perfect, or if the best reviews are regulated by Yelp’s automatic filter. While some businesses have gone as far as filing class-action lawsuits against Yelp, alleging that their filter is set up as a way to extort businesses into advertising, so far none of the lawsuits have succeeded; and one judge after another has dismissed a variety of allegations of a similar style. Our San Leandro Chiropractor practice is not planning to file anything and wasting time with Yelp. Instead we simply use our own digital platform like this blog and Google search results in order to show up on a first page of Google search results. Besides being a chiropractor with 18 years of experience I know a thing or two about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). If you read this post, feel free to share it with other small business owners.

As of today Yelp filtered over 25 reviews in the past two weeks and now our San Leandro Chiropractor Yelp Page at 22 – 5 star reviews and 46 – 5 stars filtered reviews.  Few reviews just disappeared completely. Moving forward in 2019 we are planning to focus on San Leandro Chiropractor Google Local places our YouTube channel and maybe occasionally on Instagram.   We will continue to focus on providing the best chiropractic service to our current and future patients in 2019 and forward.  Happy New Year – exercise, rest, eat clean and keep your spine aligned with your local chiropractors. Oh yes, do not forget to write a review if you are happy with your San Leandro Chiropractor or any other local chiropractor.

Is Your Mattress Causing You Back Pain?

December 6, 2018 by drburt

Is Your Mattress Causing You Back Pain?

Often, we ignore an occasional ache and pain when we’ve been active in physical sports or other activities that could be responsible. If it’s an ongoing problem and there is no other explanation for a morning backache, your mattress could be to blame [1].

It’s more common than you think

Even if your mattress has been a comfortable place to rest for years, these sleeping spaces change their shape over the years. The materials of even high-quality mattresses begin to wear over time and the changes in the integrity of the materials can certainly lead to aches and pains in the morning.

A chiropractor knows best

The spokesman for the American Chiropractic Association is Dr. Robert Hayden of Atlanta. He suggests that a repeated pattern of back pain in the morning is a strong indication that your mattress may be the source of your pain. This is the most common explanation for sudden back pain that is recurring when all other possible causes have been ruled out by your physician.

How can you tell if a mattress is the problem?

One of the best ways to determine if your mattress is the culprit is to do a few light stretching exercises to limber the muscles in your back and in the area that the pain is coming from. If the pain is gone within a half-hour then it’s a sign that your mattress may be the cause. Another sign is tossing and turning at night. If you don’t remember, a good way to tell is if the covers on your bed are disheveled. If you wake up with the covers on the floor or around your neck, then you’ve had a restless night.

Do you have a new mattress?

If your back pain started shortly after sleeping on a new mattress, you may have bought one that isn’t the right degree of firmness or softness to meet your sleeping requirements. People are all individuals and we all sleep in different positions that we find comfortable. Some people prefer a hard mattress while others need a soft one. There are several different degrees of firmness and when a mattress is too firm, it can push on pressure points in your body as you sleep, causing stiffness and soreness when you wake up [2].

When to replace your mattress

We all know that buying a good quality mattress is an investment, so it’s not something that people usually do until they are forced to. Mattresses should be replaced at least every eight years. If your mattress is aging or if it is beginning to sag or change from its original shape, then it’s time for a replacement because your well-being may depend upon it.

How to choose the right mattress

Ideally, the best way to choose the best mattress is to test it out first. There are retailers that will allow you to push on the mattress with your hands and some will even allow you to sit on it or even lie on it and stretch out. The perfect mattress to prevent backaches is the one that feels good on your back and gives you a nearly floating sensation. The new mattress should support your entire body and it must allow for the proper alignment of your spine. Look for a mattress that doesn’t press on your main spinal pressure points, but make sure it isn’t too soft to provide your back and neck with support [3].

What to do if your mattress is the problem

Replace the mattress as soon as you can with one that is suitable for your firmness needs. If you can’t afford to replace it right away, you may want to consider purchasing a bed topper in a firmness that better meets your needs. You may also want to consider visiting a chiropractor, explaining the situation and getting an examination to see if you need to have a spinal adjustment. These often help to relieve mattress induced back pain.

Final thoughts

There are many different things that can cause morning back pain. It’s always wise to see a health care provider for recurring pain that does not resolve after a few days. If you notice a pattern of painful periods or if the pain is getting worse, see a professional for an examination to rule out any other causes of your discomfort. When you’re certain that there isn’t a physical injury, illness or organic cause for your pain, it’s probably your mattress. Replacing the mattress or altering the firmness can help to alleviate your discomfort. Life is much too short to put up with nuisance back pain when the answer can be as simple as getting a new mattress for a more restful and comfortable night’s sleep.
