Banana and Your Health

March 9, 2011 by drburt

BANANA AND YOUR HEALTHBananas are among the healthiest fruit in the world today. It contains three natural sugars; fructose, glucose and sucrose combined with fiber. This fruit is the popular choice among active individuals as it provides a sustained, long lasting energy boost to last the day. Studies have shown that eating a medium sized banana can provide enough energy to help you last through a daunting 90 minute workout. No wonder that this fruit has become the staple energy food among the world’s best conditioned athletes.

Providing energy boost isn’t the only way it helps the body. It is also a leading combatant of a number of conditions and illnesses making it an important to include banana as part of our everyday meals. It contains tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, a chemical compound that improves the mood of an individual by making it prone to relaxation generally making the individual feel happier and light.
Banana not only power up the body it also helps combat a number of conditions making it among the leading health food in the world. Here are just some conditions that this magic fruit helps stave off:
PMS – Women should grab a bite of banana when having their monthly period. The vitamin B6 content helps regulate blood glucose level making the mood feel lighter and relaxed.
Anemia – Having high levels of iron, a banana helps stimulate the hemoglobin production in the blood helping a person stop the occurrence of anemia on its tracks.
Blood Pressure: High in potassium yet low in salt are what makes bananas perfect to offset a high blood pressure. The US Food and Drug Administration recently allowed the banana industry to issue official statements claiming that banana has the ability to reduce the risk of stroke and high blood pressure.
Constipation: Rich in fiber, a diet that includes daily consumption of bananas helps restore normal bowel movement thus helping the body overcome constipation.
Heartburn: Bananas produces high natural antacids in the body that reduces the occurrence of heartburn and helps stop it by providing a soothing relief to this condition.
These are just some of the conditions that bananas helps to combat, other less serious conditions such as mosquito bites, wherein a banana can help by using it as in lieu of insect bite cream. By rubbing the inside of the banana skin on the affected skin will reduce irritation and swelling. Nerves are also calmed by bananas because of its high vitamin B content.
Bananas are not only helpful in fighting off serious body conditions; it is also eaten as a means of prevention from such life threatening conditions such as a stroke. According to the New England Medical Journal, constant eating of bananas reduces the risk of an individual suffering from a stroke by a whopping 40%.
Living a healthy life is important in order to live a less hassle and happy life. By eating healthy foods we also encourage a clean way of living and bananas are included in the forefront of the campaign for a healthy lifestyle. Getting to know bananas as an important part of the battle against serious and life threatening conditions is a start on the right direction.

ASPARTAME, EQUAL, NUTRASWEET, SPOONFUL and Your Health

January 17, 2011 by drburt

ASPARTAMEAspartame is a known neurotoxin. This product can pass directly on to the fetus in pregnant women with even a small dose. There were cases when people have suffered aspartame related disorders with doses as small as a single portion of chewing gum stick.  Flicker vertigo or flicker-induced epileptic activity is a real possibility for pilots who drink diet sodas. The chances for pilots of having sudden memory loss, dizziness during instrument flight and gradual vision loss are pretty high. Pilots who were frequent consumers of EQUAL and NUTRASWEET have experienced grand mal seizures while operating commercial airplane and have lost their privilege to fly forever. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has received over 10,000 complaints from consumers about NutraPoison. FDA has done nothing to alert American public about 80 percent of these food additives. People assume that if these products are advertised on TV then they are as safe as mother’s milk. The FDA consistently approves killer additives all the time. Next time I will try post some information about MSG (Monosodium Glutamate).

If you are one of the users of EQUAL and NUTRASWEET and you are experiencing headaches, depression, slurred speech, loss of memory, fibromyalgia types symptoms, loss of sensation in lower legs or shooting pains, loss of equilibrium, vertigo, anxiety attacks, chronic fatigue, vision loss, floaters, retinal  detachment, seizures, heart palpitations, etc you might have ASPARTAME TOXICITY! Some physicians misdiagnose patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) when in reality it is methanol toxicity which mimics MS. You can survive MS but not methanol toxicity. 51% of FDA approved drugs had serious health risks. John Hopkins University research estimates that 80-120,000 American citizens are killed by prescription drugs every year. Here is a link to a great Detoxification Kit by Dr. Hull. (affiliate link)  A Detox Program to cleanse your body of toxins such as heavy metals, food chemicals, toxins from artificial sweeteners, and much more.

Aspartame is a molecule composed of three main components: aspartic acid, phenylalanine and methanol. Once ingested the methanol, wood alcohol that has killed or blinded thousands of skid row drunks, converts into formaldehyde and formic (Ant Sting Poison). Farmaldehyde, is a very serious deadly neurotoxin and class A Carcinogen.  Phenylealanine is also neurotoxic when unaccompanied by the other amino acids in proteins. Aspartic Acid causes brain lesions in neuroendocrine disorders in experimental animals. Overall there are 92 documented symptoms including:

  • Headache
  • Blurred Vision
  • Dizziness
  • Irritability
  • Seizures
  • Tachycardia
  • Nausea
  • Slurred Speech
  • Numbness
  • Heart Palpitations
  • Muscle Spasms
  • Anxiety Attacks
  • Rashes
  • Tinnitus
  • Depression
  • Loss of Taste
  • Fatigue
  • Memory Loss
  • Weight Gain
  • Vertigo
  • Blindness
  • Joint Pain
  • Hearing Loss
  • Insomnia

NutraSweet is found in over 10,000 products. The best way to understand NutraSweet is to think of it as a minute does of nerve gas that eradicates brain and nerve functions. You are probably want to ask this question why would FDA allow this product on the market – the answer is simple – MONEY. Monsanto reaps about $2 billion each year from the Aspartame toxic business. Here is the list of diseases triggered by ASPARTAME:

  • Brain Tumors and Other Cancers
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Epstein Barr
  • Diabetes
  • Birth Defects
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Graves Disease
  • Parkinson’s
  • Mental Retardation
  • Systemic Lupus Death
  • Epilepsy
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Alzheimer’s
  • Lymphoma

NUTRASWEET, EQUAL, SPOONFUL are the one of the deadliest toxins in our society because of their presence in many thousands foods, even children’s vitamins, medicines, Kool Aid and Jell-O and every restaurant table. Americans are dosed with millions of pounds every year! The following warning MUST BE written on every ASPARTAME, NUTRASWEET, EQUAL, SPOONFUL products: CHEMICAL POISON – KEEP OUT OF REACH OF HUMANS: GENOCIDAL.

Diet Sodas are Dangerous to Your Health

January 12, 2011 by drburt

DIET SODAThere is no doubt that Diet Soda presents Danger to Your Health. Think twice before you pour that DIET soda: The aspartame (NutraSweet) in diet soda, when left at room temperature, breaks down into formaldehyde, a toxic chemical that can cause cancer and birth defects. At least that is what Jennifer Chen, a 12 year old from New Jersey, found while performing a science experiment for school. Cohen tested three groups of Diet Coke: one that was refrigerated, one that was stored at room temperature, and one that was put in an incubator set at 104 degrees. Two months later independent laboratory tests found that the soda left at room temperature (which it ca be for months before you buy it) had the highest levels of formaldehyde – four times that of the refrigerated cola and three times more than the incubated cola. Large amounts of aspartame have been found to cause headaches, nausea, vision problems, and seizures in laboratory animals. These are very serious symptoms, and especially if they are caused by Diet Soda Consumption. Treasure your health, fresh water will satisfy your thirst just as well and a much better alternative drink, plus it is FREE.

This information was obtained from 1999 publication of unknown magazine that I have discovered at Y-Files Seminar presented by Dr. Denofrio, D.C.

There are lots of articles and videos on the internet that talk about the dangers of Diet Soda and its affect on a health of the consumers. I will list 5 articles that I had the time to review and 3 videos that I have watched. Without farther ado here is a list of great posts about the dangers of diet soda.

DANGERS OF DIET SODA by By Pilar Gerasimo. She provides 10 reasons why not to drink diet sodas. Excellent Article

OK, I am not going to rant. But I need to get this out of my system: I think diet soda is awful. I think all soda is awful, actually (yes, I know there are no “bad” foods, but I hold soda in approximately the same regard as those puffy orange Circus Peanuts — these are not really “foods,” per se). Diet soda, in my view, is especially insidious. READ MORE…

The Dangers of Diet Coke, Pepsi and Other Diet Food by Dr. Whitetaker, M.D.

Artificial sweeteners are marketed with the promise of weight control, and the vast majority of people who consume them do so to either lose or avoid gaining weight. Folks, this is a fraud of gigantic proportions.

From 1960 to l976, there was virtually no change in the number of Americans who were overweight: roughly 24 percent of the population. However, from the mid l980s to the present, this number has more than doubled to 54 percent! This coincides with the massive infusion of noncaloric chemical sweeteners and sugar-free “diet” foods that are eaten by close to three-quarters of the adult population.

Although several factors contribute to these alarming statistics, I am convinced that our blind acceptance of the most popular of these artificial sweeteners, aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful), plays a significant role in our current weight problems. Far from helping us lose weight, aspartame has been proven to increase appetite, especially cravings for sweets. Imagine “diet” products that help you pack on extra pounds! And aspartame’s downside doesn’t end with weight gain: This sweetener is associated with multiple health problems and majority of it comes from Diet Sodas. READ MORE…

The Dangers of Diet Soda by JDROTH on FEBRUARY 12, 2008 · This Post has 49 great comments regarding danger of Diet Soda Products. A Must Read Article about The Dangers of Diet Sodas and Your Health.

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

Having just one of these conditions — increased blood pressure, elevated insulin levels, excess body fat around the waist or abnormal cholesterol levels — isn’t diagnosed as metabolic syndrome, but it does contribute to your risk of serious disease. If more than one of these conditions occur in combination, your risk is even greater. READ MORE…

Sugar Substitutes and the Potential Danger of Splenda

Written by Marcelle Pick, OB/GYN NP Another Great Post about The Dangers of Diet Sodas and How it Can Damage Your Health

Few of us are really aware of how many new Splenda® products there are in the supermarkets. We’ve been told that this artificial sweetener is different from all the past failures — Sweet’N Low®, NutraSweet®, etc. — and according to the claims, that this Splenda is the perfect sugar substitute: as sweet as sugar, but no calories; as sweet as sugar, but no surge in insulin; as sweet as sugar, but no side effects or long-term health damage.

The wave is coming because “low–sugar” or “sugar–free” is the latest fad — a welcome trend, given the health hazards of all the sugar in the average diet. But of the hundreds of new diet foods that will soon appear, most will use Splenda as a sugar substitute. This is important because for tens of millions of women, their diet soda or artificially-sweetened food is a keystone of what they think are healthy nutrition and food choices — both for themselves and for their families.

On the other side of the argument are responsible experts who say that Splenda is unsafe — the latest in a succession of artificial sweeteners that claim at first to be healthy, only later to be proven to be full of side effects. These authorities say that Splenda has more in common with DDT than with food.

What do we believe? We think that our regulatory system doesn’t do a good enough job ensuring our long-term safety. We’re concerned about the bigger picture, too — the dependence on sweets in the American diet to make us feel good — whether those sweets are satisfied by sugar or artificial sweeteners like Splenda. And we are especially sensitive to the women who can benefit from using artificial sweeteners as a bridge to a better life with healthier nutrition.

What should you think about artificial sweeteners? We want you to be fully informed about the dangers of Splenda (which isn’t what food marketers want!) so you can make the best choices for yourself and for your family. So let’s make sure you are. READ MORE…

Soft Drinks – America Written by Judith Valentine, PhD, CNA, CNC A Must Read Article about The Dangers of Diet Sodas and Your Health.

The addict feels low. His body needs a boost. He reaches into his pocket and finds a dollar bill. He slides it into the machine and a can rolls out. He opens the can and guzzles. He feels his energy return. His fix will last a couple of hours, enough to keep him alert for the rest of the morning. The addict is twelve years old and his drug is a soft drink, purchased from a vending machine in his school. This addict and thousands like him will attend special classes, sponsored by his school, to warn him about the dangers of drugs, tobacco and alcohol. But no one will tell him about America’s other drinking problem.

According to the National Soft Drink Association (NSDA), consumption of soft drinks is now over 600 12-ounce servings (12 oz.) per person per year. Since 1978, soda consumption in the us has tripled for boys and doubled for girls. Young males age 12-29 are the biggest consumers at over 160 gallons per year-that’s almost 2 quarts per day. At these levels, the calories from soft drinks contribute as much as 10 percent of the total daily caloric intake for a growing boy. READ MORE…

High Fructose Corn Syrup and Your Health

December 29, 2010 by drburt

HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUPHigh Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) has been around only for a little bit over 50 years. Before that everyone used a regular sugar for household consumption and food production. What has happened in the last fifty years? Why the consumption of HFCS is growing despite the health risk such a nationwide obesity factor? I will try to cover as much as I can in one post.

HFCS got its name from isomerization of glucose, which is the process when natural glucose in corn syrup is converted to fructose. The percentage of fructose in this new product is much higher and therefore it is sweeter, thus is the name High-Fructose Corn Syrup. This scientific discovery coincides with 1997 new tariffs and sugar quotas and increased consumption by companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi. The production of HFCS jumped from 3 million tons in 1980 to 8 million tons to 1995.

High Fructose Corn Syrup is genetically altered product. Our body does not react to this product as a natural food item. Our pancreas produces insulin during carbohydrate consumption. However, when a person consumes HFCS our pancreas does not produce insulin. Natural carbohydrate is digested by normal pathways but HFCS goes directly to the liver, where it is treated like a chemical and turned into a fat. Another concern with HFCS is a level of mercury in this product – which is a known neurotoxin.

Recent study from Princeton University provides evidence that HCFS causes more weight gain in experiment on laboratory animals. However, it does not mean that we have to substitute High Fructose Corn Syrup with cane sugar. Too much of both evil will cause the weight gain. The key is the moderation. Consider substituting HFCS with honey and natural gems which can be prepared from any fruit. This will provide necessary nutrients for your body and a healthy dose of sweet carbohydrates. Make sure to read the labels each and every time you go to the store.
