Four Causes Of Poor Posture

Many people around the world are affected by a poor posture. Poor posture can affect your appearance and how a person feels about him or herself. It can contribute to a pain in a cervical and lumbar spine, cephalgia, intervertebral disc problems and even occasional chronic pain and breathing problems.

Here are the 4 Major Causes of Poor Posture

Soft Tissue Injury or Pain

 

Every time an individual has soft tissue injury an antalgic posture iS an inevitable result. This can become a programmed habit. Holding yourself differently or walking differently can be caused by an injury or pain in just about any part of your body so it is not limited to back or neck injuries.

Muscle Imbalance

Every day activities can develop larger and stronger muscles on one side of the body.  A recent example was a patient of mine who was carrying heavy bag on one side of her body. Her upper trapezium became more developed on one side of the body. This imbalance caused a subluxation in her cervical spine and as a result shooting pain down her left upper extremity has happened. She though it was a heart attack first and called 911. Medical Doctors could not find anything wrong with her. These symptoms assimilate hear attack. Low Self Esteem

Individuals with low self esteem keep their head down and shoulders forward. This can result in a loss of a cervical lordosis curvature. This can become a bad habit and can lead to a chronic bad posture.

Obesity

Carrying extra weight around the abdominal area can have problems with lower back being pulled forward by the weight of the stomach. Scientific term – Pendulous Abdominis.

These four cases are the most common causes of a bad posture.  This is a learned habit that can be unlearned by an individual. It can be difficult to correct your posture on your own. Considering chiropractic care is a good start. You may also consider using posture aid till you learn how to stand correctly on your own. There are a variety of different aids on the market including back and neck supports and posture pumps.

I am very fortunate to live in San Francisco Bay Area where climate allows us to ride pretty much all year long. We never ever have a snow in a winter and it never rains from mid spring to mid autumn. Love it :). My house is about five minutes away from East Bay Regional Park – Lake Chabot. The trail can take a mountain biker all the way to Oakland and this trail connects all the way to Berkeley. I have never personally ridden to Berkeley due to the time limitations. A ride from a Ranger Station at Lake Chabot to Oakland is about 31 miles long with quite a bit of elevation gain. It takes about three and a half hours to complete with few small brakes on a way.

Best gel for me. I have used them training and racing, for mountain biking, triathlons, and running marathons. I keep them well stocked and have had a lot of my buddies get hooked on them as well. Crank Sports also has a good, free, on-line workout log that is set-up for multi-sports and is customizable. No, I don’t work for Crank Sports.

This product works and has never upset my stomach. The pre-mix drink packets are also great. If you use the gel and drink there is no Bonk.

Awesome product. Try their sports drink mix as well. The combination of the two cannot be beat. Reasonable pricing and seems to be an item that is wel stocked at many cycling stores – nice for a change to be able to find the product you like!

I highly recommend trying it. I always dreaded eating those Gu and Cliff shots because they made me choke. Great for long road and mtb rides. has more electrolytes so it keeps you from cramping.

Posture Pump Pro 1000, 2000 and 4100 Product Review

Posture Pump 4100It has been about six month since I have purchased Posture Pump Pro 4100 for myself. I am an avid mountain biker and ride hard tail bikes in order to achieve the best performance out my body and out of the bike. My regular ride is 20 miles on a single speed and can range up to 35 miles on a geared bike with quite a bit of elevation gain. I use Posture Pump 4100 after those prolonged rides. I feel the stress that spine has experienced during these prolonged ride. Of course the optimal situation would be getting a chiropractic adjustment. However these long distance mountain bike rides happen during the weekend and the two doctors of chiropractic that I trade adjustment with also have fun somewhere else.

Many cyclists know the feeling when your body is in flexed position for a prolonged period of time. This statement is even more applicable for rode cyclists. Their flexion angle is much greater in order to provide better aerodynamics and achieve faster speed. Forward prolonged flexion generates a lot of load on the anterior section of an intervertebral disc (IVD). This results in stiffness and lack of motion of the vertebral joints and over a long period of time might be the cause of IVD degeneration or disc protrusion.

The solution to this problem is Posture Pump 4100. This device allows to pump liquids into an intervertebral disc and helps to restore the lordosis of the cervical and lumbar spine.
