As we age, our bones become stronger. But as we grow older or reach middle age they begin to thin out and become fragile than they used to be. Women often feel it or would suddenly feel the change in their bones after reaching the menopausal stage. And we can prevent this from happening or we can prepare our body for it by eating right. Proper diet could help you prevent a lot of conditions that may develop as a person age. Knowing the right foodsto eat will definitely give a positive result. Here are some of the good foods you should include in your diet every day.
Sardines
Sardines are good source of calcium, a mineral that is important in developing your bones and making it stronger. Just by eating 3 ounces of sardines has more than enough source of calcium you need a day.
Drink your Milk
Milk is the most common source of calcium and everybody should at least drink an 8 ounce glass of milk every day. Not only kids need their milk as adults should also drink a single glass of it for their bones.
Other dairy products are good
If you can’t stand drinking milk every day then why not try out other dairy products which are also a good source of calcium? A cup of yogurt or an ounce of swiss cheese is as good as a cup of milk. There are a lot of dairy products that are lactose free for those people who are lactose intolerant.
Fortified Foods
When you do your groceries try to check the nutritional level of the food that you are buying. That way you can still enjoy the food you love to eat but you are also helping your bones get the minerals they need to stay strong. Eating green vegetables have a lot of benefits and having strong bones is one of them. There are a lot of vegetables which naturally contains calcium like Chinese cabbage and kale. Turnip and collard also has a lot of calcium.
Supplements
Calcium supplements are probably one of the easiest ways to increase your calcium intake. But remember taking too much can also bring harm to your body so never exceed the 1,000 milligrams of calcium per day. If you can already eat foods that are rich in calcium then there’s no need for you to take supplements.
Salmon
Aside from sardines, salmon is also a good source of calcium. It also has a lot of vitamin D which helps in calcium absorption.
Soy Foods
Eating a little amount of tofu a day will make your bones stronger. Just about half a cup of tofu contains 258 milligrams of calcium.
Just a little salt
Salt and calcium don’t go too well inside your body. The more salt you take the less calcium gets absorbed by your system. Calcium tends to be washed away by urine when you take too much salty foods.
Nuts and Seeds
Having nuts and seeds like almonds and sunflowers seeds for snacks are a healthy way of eating. This food can help in strengthening your bones with their high calcium content.

It’s free and abundant. Though sunshine is not food but you need it for your body to be able to absorb all the calcium you have taken. Vitamin D that your body will be produced in response to exposure to sunlight will help make your bones stronger.

If you are going to educate people on what is healthy and non-healthy to eat, it seeems that not only do you need to educate yourself further, but also educate people that food these days is not what it always seems. In otherwords, rather than just telling someone something is good to eat, these days you also have to make people aware that all foods are not alike, i.e. GMO foods, which are abundant in our grocery stores and highly toxic, with no awareness, no labelling, no education, no positive studies, and all of the secrecy surrounding them proves they are not good for you, and if it were they would advertise the hell out of it, so therefore an apple is not an apple, is not an apple, so organic is the healthiest way to go. Also, MILK IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, and in fact these days is good for no-one. Are you not aware of the genetically modified hormones in our pasteurized milk, that is fed to the cattle? This hormone is causing havoc with so many women and they don’t know it, and don’t even think it is possible because of people like yourself who know no facts and have obvu=iously done no research on the product, not to mention HARVARD university has now completed and reported on a study done specifically on pasteurized milk, that now PROVES that MILK CAUSES BREAST CANCER, PROSTATE CANCER AND TESTICULAR CANCER. So before you play a real doctor or even a dietician for that matter, no your stuff, research it before you attempt to educate others, rather than just reiterate what we’ve all been told for too many years, without knowing the real facts. You can only contribute to health problems by your article above…so, please research, research, research, your almost acting like Doctor’s who think because they received their PHD many moons ago, they know all they need to know without further education and getting the new facts based on new studies. They too contribute to people’s poor health, by not being a true Doctor, medicine is a practising field, like most, therefore, they are to continue to practice which also includes keeping up with the times and it looks like you have also fallen victim to this lacking education. Also before geeting in to too many other problems with your article, research fish that is also genetically mutated organisms, salt and calcium; salt is actually good for the bones (in moderation),and in fact your bones need it and calcium can actually create shields on your bones in which germs, bacteria and disease can hide under and build up and your blood cells cannot get to them to wipe them out…..again your knowledge is VERY OLD and outdated, lacking the REAL FACTS! RESEARCH>>>RESEARCH>>>RESEARCH….OH also note that because milk is pasteurized it has NO NUTRIENTS WHATSOEVER, IT DOESN’T HAVE THE CALCIUM THAT WAS ONCE THOUGHT AND IN FACT HAS VERY LITTLE OR NONE, BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN SO FILTERED AND HEATED TO A POINT IN WHICH IT BECOMES NON-EXISTENT, AAND AS FOR VITAMIN D, IT IS NOT IN THE MILK, BUT ADDED AFTER THE FACT AND SYNTHESIZED VIT.D IS NOT THE SAME AS REAL VITAMIN D. THAT IS PROBABLY THE ONLY CORRECT THING YOU REPORTED ON, BEING PRO-SUN, AGAIN WE’VE BEEN TOLD TO STAY OUT OF THE SUN, AND YET OUR BODIES SERIOUSLY NEED IT TO HELP PREVENT ILLNESSESS AND DISEASE, AND AGAIN, IT’S BETTER THAN THE SYNTHESIZED VIT.
